How long can I burn my candle per lighting?
For best results, it is best to burn your candle to a full melt pool, meaning until the soy wax has melted fully to the edge of the candle jar with the melted wax up to no more than 1/2 inch deep. This takes approximately 2-4 hours per lighting, depending on the size of your candle and if the wicks have been trimmed to 1/4 inch before each lighting.
When my candle wax is almost gone, when should I discontinue use?
When your candle has about 1/2 inch of soy wax left it is time to discontinue use. If it burns down further it could cause heat damage and may start to burn black smoke, as it will burn too hot.
Is there care recommended for the candle wick?
It is best to keep your candle wick trimmed to 1/4 inch before each lighting by trimming with a wick trimmer. This allows for longer burn times and optimal burn temperature.
Is a candle snuffer required to extinguish my candle?
A candle snuffer is not required to extinguish your candle. You may blow it out. However, using a candle snuffer is helpful for optimal scent longevity. Never use your candle lid to extinguish your candle to prevent damage to the lid inside and out.
Is it ok to burn my candle indoors and outdoors?
It is absolutely fine to burn your candle indoors or outdoors, however, there are some things to keep in mind. When burning your candle, keep it away from flammable items like drapes, clothing and hair, and you should always keep your candle away from drafts, children and pets. Never leave your candle unattended or fall asleep while burning your candle. We also recommend not storing your candle in the direct sunlight, as our soy is a natural product of the Earth, and we do not add chemical stabilizers so that you may benefit from your cleaner burning candle. The sun may cause your wax to slightly discolor or dry over time.
Can my label fade or be removed?
We use water-based ink on our removable labels, as it is best for the environment. Since we use water-based ink, your label could fade if left in the sun and may be affected if exposed to liquids. Your label can be removed after use by simply soaking and washing your candle label and jar in warm soapy water.
Why did my candle look a bit bumpy on top after it cooled?
Since we do not use chemical additives and stabilizers to our soy wax, your candle may occasionally cool at an inconsistent rate due to temperature variations in the environment that contrast with the temperature of your hot candle. This can, at times, make your candle look a bit bumpy after it cools. This is normal for natural soy wax, and should smooth out at your next lighting.
I haven’t burned my candle for months and it looks slightly frosty on top. Is that normal?
Our goal is to provide the cleanest burning candle on the market, so we have not added any unecessary ingredients. Since we don't add chemical stabilizers, colorants or other potentially harmful additives, if you don't burn your candle for several months, it may get a slightly frosty look to the top. This is normal for a natural soy wax. It will not change the performance of the candle, and should no longer appear a bit frosty on top after you light it to a full melt pool.
It looks like my candle is “sweating”. Is that normal?
On occasion, you may find that your soy candle has tiny drops of liquid ontop of your candle that can look like “sweating”. This can happen when burning natural soy wax. Soy wax can be sensitive to temperature swings in the environment, condensation, humidity, or uneven burning, which can cause the natural oils to separate from the wax. This does not mean your candle is faulty and it should not affect the performance of your candle. It is simply a phenomena of burning natural soy wax in specific conditions. If you experience this, feel free to gently wipe off the drops with a cleanable towel before lighting.
