Finding a high quality soy wax that is renewable, sustainably produced, and farmed naturally in the USA was one of our greatest challenges at the beginning of our candle making journey.  We realized quickly, not all soy wax is created equally.  After doing a ton of research when choosing our soy wax, we found that most soy wax made available for candle making is grown in countries that are tearing down rainforests to make way for more profitable soy fields, as reported by Carbon Brief - Clear on Climate and BBC.  Since our focus and priority is helping the Earth and helping our candle loving community enjoy the benefits of clean candles, we kept our soy wax search going until we found a way to work with farmers in the USA that grow soy renewably and sustainably.  We proudly offer our soy candles to you, knowing we have done all we can to provide the highest quality soy candles for you to enjoy, without harming yourself, your home or our beautiful planet.

What Do Our Labels Represent?

When shopping for the perfect candle for your home, the label may not be something you think about often.  At Healing Light Soy Candles, we have put a lot of thought and care into every aspect of what makes up the best Sensory Journey, and we wanted our labels to be a part of your experience, as well.  First and foremost, we use water-based ink on our labels.  Our water-based ink is free of the heavy metals that are typically of most concern in the environment when it comes to ink.  We have also used removable labels that can be removed by hand washing in soapy, warm water.

Furthermore, we know your internal light shines through the dark and we wanted a label that does the same.  We custom cut an internal circle in our labels so that the candle light will shine through the dark.  We also have a notch installed in 4 key areas of the label cut out to represent North, South, East and West, as a compass does.  Our intention is that through relaxation, meditation, music, aromatherapy, mindfulness, and inspiration, you will feel your best way forward to the best version of yourself.  We believe in you and your gifts.  Be Your Light and Shine Your Light, my friend!

Why We Don’t Use Additives & What They Are In Other Candles

Most candles are made with additional acids, inhibitors, stabilizers, and/or colorants that chemically preserve or change the wax.  While that may sound interesting, it is likely not your best option when looking for a cleaner burning candle.  Most candle additives like stabilizers, inhibitors, colorants, UV protectants, etc., are made from various chemicals and petroleum based products to artificially preserve or change the candle, are carcinogens, and will become airborne when lit.  Our goal is to provide the cleanest burning candle on the market, so we have not added any unecessary ingredients.  Since we don't add chemical stabilizers, colorants or other additives, our candles do benefit from not being stored in the direct sunlight long term.  Additionally, if you don't burn your candle for several months, it may get a slightly frosty look to the top. This is normal for natural soy wax.  It will not change the performance of the candle, and should return to normal after burning it to a full melt pool.  We are confident you will enjoy your candle thoroughly and burn it often, so this will likely not be something you experience. 

What do we do instead of chemical additives?  We focus on quality of ingredients and caring properly for our candles.  When it comes to chemical additives, we believe keeping them out of your candle is the only real way to avoid harmful side effects that you may experience from them.  Our candles are made from naturally and sustainably farmed USA soy, 100% vegan soy, and the highest quality USA fragrance oils and wicks, with no animal testing.  They have no known lead, zinc, phthalates, paraffins, parabens, additives, colorants, UV protectants, stabilizers, inhibitors, additional acids, or petroleum based products. Minimal Packaging For Minimal Waste

Making beautiful, cleaner burning, and sustainable candles is our top priority, and minimizing waste is part of the journey.  We do all that we can to reduce, reuse, recycle, and part of that is minimizing packaging that would, otherwise, end up in the landfill.  We do everything from using recycled and carbon neutral products, to minimizing any unnecessary packaging, and even reusing some shipping materials that are shipped to us.  We believe that if we all do our part individually, we can make a larger impact collectively.  We hope that in turn you will find fun new uses for your beautiful candle glassware after you have enjoyed your candle, cleaned your glassware, and recycled any shipping materials you have received.  Together we can make a difference.
